I really like certain movies, and I think having a blog post for them is necessary. Today has been strange and I think I might be getting sick. Anyway, here are some of my favorite movies in no specific order:
Drive–Directed by Nicolas Winding Refn
A lot of tension and good acting and swag.
Atonement–Joe Wright
Book is also amazing; the movie is beautiful and will make you so frustrated. Also a pretty green dress is featured.
Whiplash–Damien Chazelle
Will have you on the edge of your seat tbh. I preferred it the first time I watched it because I didn’t know what was coming. Don’t look at what it’s about before watching it just watch it
Portrait of a Lady on Fire–Celine Sciamma
If you are like me and enjoy lesbians, good cinematography, yearning, and the French language PLEASE watch this.
Secretary–Steven Shainberg
Just really changed my outlook on romantic relationships. It is probably not what you are expecting. James Spader and Maggie Gyllenhaal are such good actors.
The Worst Person in the World–Joachim Trier
This one is very relatable but also sad. Watch it in Norwegian not in English.
In the Cut–Jane Campion
On the surface it seems like a stupid thriller but has an interesting feminist undertone. Also it’s sort of spooky and I liked the ending a lot.
Reality Bites–Ben Stiller
Just a vibe…good music and I like Winona Ryder’s haircut. If we’re being honest nothing actually happens, it’s just a comforting movie.
Perfect Blue–Satoshi Kon
Like what. This was so ahead of its time. It’s not only visually amazing but it can be really terrifying and tragic. I see it as a warning. Please watch it!
I do have a Letterboxd if you can’t tell by my film-broish picks:
